Check Point Ledra

Ledra street is the historical commercial street of Nicosia,capital of Cyprus, which used to cross the city from north to south and which since the turkish invasion of 1974 is divided into two by the Green Line, the buffer zone which divides Cyprus and its capital since 1974. In 2008, a Check Point was opened where a wall used to stop access to the street for the last 34 years. These photos were taken a day before and during the opening day of the Check Point, a breach in the history which divides Nicosia, history in the making...
